Imagine this: you get a call that you have a very wealthy relative that has died. He left directions to ask you to decide three things you have always wanted and there is no cap on the requests. Wow! That is huge. If you have ever been on a budget and received a gift card to your favorite store, you know the deep thought that is engaged to decide how best to use that money. You want to make sure you account for every dime.
In Everything Give Thanks – devotion out of “Encouragement Between Loads of Laundry”
Thankfulness. It is a discipline, a choice, a habit, a way of living, a journey, a process, intentional; and it is not always easy. As parents, we try to teach this quality to our kids. Before bed and even before prayer we talk about what we are thankful for. At the top of the list—and sometimes our whole list—is health; warm, comfy beds; food; water; and, of course, our family.
But what happens when we don’t have those things? What happens when the necessities are not present to be thankful for? Can we still be thankful? I suppose to answer that question we should ask someone who has gone without those essential parts of life. I am that person. I can answer that difficult question.
2015 Pink Impact Testimony
I have had the unique opportunity to say that I have attended every Pink Impact. Each year has been different and yet equally amazing. It is a time for women to make the decision that it is worth the blood, sweat, and tears that it takes to schedule themselves away from home for a few days! Those of us with control type of issues have to mentally decide that the world will go on if our kids have donuts, McDonald’s, pizza, and teeth that aren’t brushed for over 48 hours. 2015 was a year not like any other for me. Over the period of two weekends, 8,000 women gathered to encounter Pink Impact and, more importantly, to encounter God.
